May God be with them.

I know my blogs are usually light hearted but this struck a chord with me. Due to recent attacks in Kenya, the founders of a wonderful organization known as Project Aids Orphans are in Grave Danger.

I know how easy it is to shuffle these types of things aside, but we have to pop the bubble that we surround ourselves with and forget the phrase "Out of sight, out of mind."

Pray for the people of Kenya as they face these horrific events.

Holiday's and Rulebreaking

January is flying by! I had a wonderful Holiday/Christmas/New year's. Every year my husband and I swear not to buy anything for one another. Of course like every year he breaks the rules and me being the stickler that I am, I don't. Then I feel like an asterisk(*side note-I put the symbol b/c that word is almost unrecognizable.

So this year, since Craig had a little time off at New Year's I thought I would surprise him with a trip to Chicago to ring in the New Year. We went a few years ago and absolutely loved it! After he gave me my presents;perfume, white stiletto's,and a hot pink adorable sock hat,(the ones with the strings and the ball on the top.) I kept telling him that I had a present for him and he kept saying, "Baby, it's really o.k. that you didn't get me anything, we weren't supposed to anyway." I, of course laughing on the inside wanted to shout, WERE GOING TO CHICAGO AND YOU ARE CLUELESS! I edited some pics/video and did a little movie of us and all the places we have been this year. Then I put it to our favorite song and at the end it says, lets spend New Year's in a place we both love and he was FLOORED! For those who have just gagged, I apologize.

I really felt lucky the last month or so...or I guess "appreciative," would be the better term.

Stephanie

Pale-Painful-Pink

Sore throat, aching joints, stuffy nose, swollen tonsils, and a possible fever. I think that sums up my symptoms. I was just bragging the other day about not being sick! Why do I jinx myself, just when things are going well? I am a doof-to-the-us. I just drank the nastiest powdered drink in history. I am sure you have heard of it or at least taken it. My norm, Airborne is all gone, so I had to settle for that Emergen-C drink which happens to be a whopping, 1,000 milligrams of vitamin C, and contains 32 mineral Complexes and 7 Mineral Ascorbates. Wait a minute...am I getting paid for this?

Anyhoo, onto more important things. I have been helping paint our new offices at work a lovely shade of hot cocoa and a mint-esque accent color. (I somewhat contribute this sickness to the below zero temperatures at work.) The colors put me in mind of a fresh new Starbucks. They are quite lovely, actually. (O.k. now I sound British!) The color before we painted is what I would call, pale-painful-pink. It was one of those colors that your eyes are straining to figure out if it was white at one point in time. Picture an old hospital room with bad lighting.

I am ecstatic that pale-painful-pink is history; I can’t wait for this sickness to be.

Stephanie

Stick a fork in it, this Turkey is Done!

I have eaten, and eaten, and eaten! Why is it that on Thanksgiving we find it acceptable to gorge ourselves with food? I have never been so miserable in my entire life! I am not even stepping near a scale! I have had turkey, ham, rolls, various patato dishes, green beens, corn, cheeseballs, cheesecakes, pies, homemade fudge, and atleast three gallons of sweet tea. The list could go on, but I am getting sick thinking about it. Due to divorced parents, step parents, inlaws, and friends I had several Thanksgiving dinners. You know what they say about turkey making you sleepy? It is true, I have slept on average ten hours per night and have fought the urge to nap during the day. I begged nearly a dozen people to go shopping with me this morning since of course it is, "Black Friday," and all. No one would go! I guess they were eating or napping. So, when the work day was over I talked the hubby into going. 10 giftcards and a bag of stuff for ourselves later, we took our sorry, broke butts home!

Lucille Ball and Borat.

My name is Borat...if he said it one more time, I might have killed him. What a match we were. He wanted me to be the fat hairy guy from Borat and I wanted him to be Ricky Ricardo. You see how well that turned out. Doesn't every girl want to be a fat, balding, hairy guy for Halloween? Maybe next year...

Pumkin Guts

This pumkin is my pride and joy. After hours of gut plucking and a few choice words, I completed this pumkin masterpiece. In case you are wondering what it is, it's a haunted house. In the top left hand corner there was supposed to be a bat but at two in the morning I got a little knife happy! I had a Halloween party this past Friday and I carved pumkins to be centerpieces. I can't wait to post all the pics from the party! I reminisced while carving, remembering all the years in my childhood that I got to pick out a pumkin every year. I didn't remember how horrible the smell of pumkin guts are. I am still trying to get the stink out of the house. If you want some patterns to carve your own, just google free pumkin carving patterns. I printed a few patterns and cut the outside of the pattern out, taped it on the pumkin, and started carving. Happy pumkin carving!

Stephanie

My poor husband doesn't get to go. Its just me and my mommy's fam! Its been a lot of years since I have been on a family trip...hope we don't kill each other.
